IF ONLY
In drought the land thirsts. The people thirst. Together, they wait hopefully and hopelessly in anticipation. In their minds they conjure dreams of the rain. Today I celebrate the rain and allow it to physically fall on the work, mixing and moving paint as I apply it. Gum leaves also create echoes as evidence of their contribution. The works are about desperation in time of drought. They are also about finding great satisfaction and thankfulness when rain finally does come.
